Everybody has the ability to access the Akashic Records, specifically their own, and many of us have most likely already done so without even knowing. There is so much more to this world than what we can grasp in words and what we know with our logical minds. 

Let’s start with where the word comes from. Akasha, depending on who you ask, is the ether, the sky, the primary substance, space, the essence of everything that exists. The Akashic Records are considered to be an energetic collection that encompasses everything from the past, present, and all possible futures. It holds all paths of all souls and so we can access anything pertaining to our soul or to that of any other soul if we know their name, once we have mastered accessing the records.

The Akashic Records originated in Indian philosophy and were brought to Western cultures through the religion of Theosophy. The records do not exist in the physical world but are believed to be held in the mental plane. They are energetic and encoded vibrationally into a space that lies beyond our human senses. 

So why access the Akashic Records? It is a great way to explore and learn about yourself. You can find answers to all kinds of questions. You will learn that you know so much more than you ever believed you did. It can be a great way to grow spiritually. You will connect to something deeper. You can use it to heal. It can be great for self-reflection and building a greater self-awareness.

How to get started. 

If you are completely new to this you might want to start by practicing listening to your instincts, your intuition, and your gut feeling. Many of us have unlearned how to do this in our modern world. Set aside some time during the day. Figure out what question or which topic you want answers to. Generally, it is recommended to be as specific as possible, but you are free to do as you please and can allow yourself to explore. Repeat your question out loud and/or write it down. 

Once you are clear on your intention, find a way to ground yourself. If you are outside you can connect your bare feet to the earth. If you are inside you might do this through breathing and feeling into your root. When you are settled, ask your question. Do this out loud if you like. 

Now place yourself in a state where you can open up your awareness and tap into the Akashic Records. There is no thinking required. Thinking will hinder you from receiving answers. Answers will come through your senses. Through feelings in your body, through images, symbols, or colors,  you might hear things, or you might feel a very deep sense of knowing. Be open to any shape it might take. In some cases, nothing may come. 

Once you feel you are ready, end the session by closing the records. Take some time to record what you experienced. You might not find meaning right away so feel free to come back for further reflection. You might find clarity throughout the next few days. 

Accessing the Akashic Records might not work for everyone and for some, it will take practice. If you are not so spiritual, I highly encourage you to leave out the Akashic Record and use the time to listen to anything your gut, instincts, and intuition want to tell you. If you are spiritual and more advanced, you might add an opening prayer and a closing prayer to your practice. When reading for someone else, you should always ask for permission.
