The work of figuring out our desire and living it is some of the most important work we can do in our lives. It is not just about us. It is much more than self development and getting what we want in life.

Living desire is about the world.

When we want more money, there's often an underlying desire for security or feeling valued.

When we want success, we can find an underlying desire for feeling at peace with who we are and what we are capable of.

When we wish for a relationship, underneath we can find the desire to experience loving and being loved.

Whenever we seek out what is underneath all the onion layers of what we call personality we find qualities that all beings on earth can benefit from if humans put in effort to live them.

Imagine what the world would be like if we all did the work to manifest what we needed to feel love, security, harmony and peace. When we bring those qualities alive within, they shine through that very semi-permeable membrane that we call self. It is contagious and touches all around us, human, and other than human. Just like singing and speaking kindly to plants helps them thrive, living in tune to a beautiful inner reality and letting that shine helps the world thrive.

Our truest desires are sacred. Sacred can be defined as "deserving of great respect".

How do you feel when you think of your desires as deserving of great respect?

In many cultures we are taught to ignore our desires, keep them secret, and only share them once in a while when we entertain thoughts of what might be and could be. We are told it is selfish to follow our desires and to work hard to achieve them. Yet, when we go beyond the surface level and allow ourselves to feel those core desires, our work to live them becomes vital to a world where all can thrive.
